Bacterial leaf scorch is a plant disease caused by xylella fastidiosa, a bacteria transmitted by insects through tree sap. Bacterial leaf scorch attacks different types of foliage, including several species of trees native to Southeastern PA. Common causes include environmental factors like heavy winds or storms.

Unfortunately, once trees fall victim to this bacteria, it’s difficult to salvage them. In most cases, they need to be removed.
